We had our Humorous Speech and Table Topics contest on Wednesday 25 September. It was a wonderful session with David Fisher as our contest Chairman. Donald Zhang was kept busy, opening the meeting, being counter and timing, with Carlos Garcia assisting in the timing role. Phillip Agripanidis wore his Area 24 Director hat (badge?) and officiated as Chief Judge.
Judy Mugonya was the Table Topics Toastmaster with the statement “Life is too short”. There was a tremendous effort with 11 contestants – Heidi Heron, Damien Lake, Sammy Rehim, Bella Wang, Caitlin Manoharan, Raja Dhanapal, Victor Hou, Rati Jain, Aaron Ross, Ricardo Di Oliveira and Mike Fatouris. There can be only one winner and that was Heidi Heron, with Caitlin Manoharan second and Aaron Ross third.
Bella Wang was Toastmaster for the Humorous Speeches. Caitlin Manoharan spoke about perceived negatives being real positives, Aaron Ross spoke about travel tales, Sammy Rehim kept us entertained with his Thailand adventures while Heidi Heron regaled us with getting her grandma stoned! Following two unfortunate time disqualifications, Caitlin Manoharan was first place, with Aaron Ross runner up.
Sussana Chan conducted Club Business, Ramesh Shanmugam and Bram Herulah were Sergeant’s at Arms, and Ursula Herulah assisted with Counting. The Judges of course remain anonymous, but their contribution was definitely appreciated.
