Meeting #173 was held Wednesday 13th March. Expertly opened by Caitlin Manoharan and Chaired by Aaron Ross, it proved to be a great meeting. We had two guests which was great for our online meetings. The Club Mission was read by Ramesh Shanmugam and Sussana Chan saluted the theme “Making moments count”.
The Toast was delivered by Rati Jain while David Fisher introduced the timer role and Eugene Vass introduced the Grammarian role. Sammy was our Table Topics Master and led a brilliant session, with Caitlin Manoharan as the evaluator. This was followed by an educational by the Area 24 Director, Phillip Agripanidis on “Organise your speech”.
Rati Jain was the general evaluator for the first half. Sussana Chan led the Club business and introduced the committee members to speak about their roles and what they have learned from it. We then had a quick fluid adjustment break.
Caitlin Manoharan got us back underway before Margrit Fisher led the prepared speeches as Toastmaster. David Fisher presented us with a speech titled empowering forward, all about mentors and proteges, while Heidi Heron had a speech on Leading through change – certainly apropos in the circumstances. These were evaluated by George Pajmakoski and Mike Fatouris.
Carlos Garcia gave us an inspirational speech imploring us to be the hero we always wanted to be. Bram Herulah was our Listening Post role, Bella Wang provided an Ums and Ahs report while David Fisher and Eugene Vass returned with their reports. Victor Hou wrapped it all up with his general evaluation of the second half.
All in all a great meeting but I think it is fair to say we would rather meet again in person. Congratulations and good luck to Heidi Heron in her upcoming District 90 International Speech Contest on Saturday. This contest may be viewed on the District 70 Youtube channel
