Meeting #174 – Elections!
Last night was our election night, and what a night it was!
The meeting was opened by Caitlin Manoharan and chaired by Margrit Fisher. Robin Huang led the salute to the theme of “growth is a choice”. David Fisher read the Club Mission and also doubled as the Zoom technical support role, while Eugene Vass provided the Toast.
Rati Jain was the Timer for the night and Caitlin Manoharan was the Grammarian with “speculate” as the word of the day. Heidi Heron led The Mystery Revealed where a member was nominated to deliver a speech. In this instance, Damien Lake was the nominee.
Aaron Ross then led the Election, with Margrit Fisher running the polls and David Fisher as scrutineer. Nominations were thick and fast for all roles. This required each role having a speech by each nominee.
President – Nominations were Caitlin Manoharan and Victor Hou.
Vice President Education (VPE) – Nominations were Heidi Heron and Victor Hou
Vice President Membership (VPM) – Nominations were George Pajmakoski, and Damien Lake
Vice President Public Relations (VPPR) – Nominations were Mike Fatouris, Victor Hou and Damien Lake
Secretary – Nominations were Ramesh Shanmugam, Damien Lake and Mike Fatouris
Treasurer – Nominations were Eugene Vass, Damien Lake, Ramesh Shanmugam and Sammy Rehim
Segeant-at-Arms (SAA) – Nominations were Eugene Vass, Ricardo De Oliveira, Damien Lake and Aaron Ross
After all votes were tallied, including one draw which required an additional speech, roles were finalised elected Club Executives announced.

Heidi Heron resumed normal programming as the Table Topics Master, where members had to think fast on what made up words were – Norrisology, Ferirama and Losenoid. The members did well in reply with some weird and wonderful answers. Victor Siyu Hou was the Table Topics Evaluator with some fantastic tips for all.
Phillip Agripanidis wrapped up the first half with an in-depth Master Evaluation. Sussana Chan led Club Business with high praise for Heidi Heron and her commendable second place achievement at the Toastmasters District 70 International Speech Contest.
After a quick break, Caitlin Manoharan got us underway again.
Ramesh Shanmugam led his very first prepared speech Toastmaster role. Sammy gave a speech on his Toastmasters journey, Phillip Agripanidis was interviewed by David Fisher and Damien Lake told us of the ingredients to happiness.. These were evaluated in turn by Mike Fatouris, Carlos Garcia and George Pajmakoski.
Caitlin Manoharan reported on the Grammarian role, Mario Salas gave us the umm and ahh report while Rati Jain reported on the Timer’s role. Final comments were provided by all members and our guests, Joao – all the way from Brazil and Kevin
